Travel with benefits for study!

Ayaulym Otarbek, a 4th year student at the Innovative University of Eurasia, who is studying under the educational program "Heat Power Engineering", spoke about her experience in participating in the program of academic mobility.

For me, 2019 has become a time of travel with the benefit of learning. Thanks to participating in the academic mobility program, I was able to see cities such as Kemerovo, Novosibirsk and Almaty.

I believe that this program provides an excellent opportunity for students to broaden their horizons, visit a different country and gain unique experience of studying at a higher educational institution of another state. All this allows you to make new friends, make acquaintances, get a huge number of impressions and increase your competitiveness in the future.

In early 2019, I visited the Kuzbass State Technical University named after T.F. Gorbachev, who is located in the city of Kemerovo, Russia. The university consists of 6 large buildings, which are close to each other. Due to the funds allocated by InEU, we were able to purchase round-trip tickets, the hostel was provided free of charge. There were eight of us: four students from the department "Energy and Metallurgy", four students from other departments. When we arrived, we were met and settled in a hostel.

For the entire period of my stay in Kemerovo, I managed to briefly familiarize myself with the curriculum at the university and saw numerous laboratory rooms. During a tour of these labs, I saw a wide variety of student work. This suggests that students who receive knowledge in the classroom, actively apply them in practice. So much more interesting and productive to spend weekdays at the university.

We were lucky to see the beauty of Kemerovo: parks, museums, the embankment. The city has a very beautiful architecture. We can say that visiting a different city, seeing another university from the inside, meeting people of another country, a person is changing inside for the better.

I really liked this cozy city, people were friendly in any matters. I believe that every future power engineer must definitely see Kemerovo, because he is considered the coal heart of Russia. My adventures in 2019 did not end there. Inspired by the trip to Kemerovo, I further asked my curator about new upcoming programs that would allow me to visit another university. So I found out about the program, which provided the opportunity to study for one semester at one of the three universities in the country. These were the Saken Seifullin Kazakh Agro-Technical University - the largest agricultural university in Central and Northern Kazakhstan, the first higher educational institution in the city of Nur-Sultan, Kokshetau State University named after Shokan Ualikhanov and the Kazakh National Agrarian University in Almaty. I chose Almaty, as I come from there. All the details associated with paperwork and other issues related to the educational process, I specified in the dean of our faculty. Earlier, my curator worked to agree on the courses that I had to take at the host university, so that they would be as close as possible to those studied at the sending university.

In the second half of 2019, I was lucky to study in Almaty for one semester.

Brief information about KazNAU. I learned that in 1996, through the merger of the two institutes of the Almaty Veterinary and Kazakh Agricultural, the Kazakh State Agrarian University (KazGAU) was created, which by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev in 2001 was given the special status of a national higher educational institution. The educational institution is located in Medeu district, on Abay Avenue 8, and the educational building No. 6 of the Faculty of Engineering is located at the intersection of N. Nazarbayev (formerly Furmanov) and K. Satpayev Streets. Nearby is the Akimat of Almaty, opposite the Akimat of the Independence Monument.

On the first day of study, the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the Department “Energy Saving and Automation” Beibitan Zhamalkhanly Nulibayev introduced me to a teacher Amanzhol Bektursynovich Tokmoldaev. Then I met the headman of the group in which I was to study.

The deputy dean for educational work, Zhanna Ishimbaevna Dauletova, provided me with a place to live in student house No. 1, which is located on Satpayev Street 7. Later, I lived at 125 Nauryzbay Batyr, in student house No. 4. I paid from my own funds. The cost of living was only 4000 tenge per month. Since I had foreseen my living expenses and additional personal expenses, I did not have any difficulties.

In KazNAU I studied such subjects as "Gazben zhabdyқtau", "Өndіrіstіk zheldetu", "Electronic қauіpsіzdіgі zhane eңbektі қorғau", "Ekonomikalyқ Taldau zhane statistics", "Zhylumen қamtu zhүyesіn zhobalau", "Zhylumen қamtamasyz ETU zhүyelerіnің zhylulyқ tіrekterіn paydalanu". I really liked the teaching staff of the department, where I studied for five months. They always gave advice if difficulties arose, helped to orient oneself. I, in turn, showed myself to be an active student and tried not to miss classes.

I studied valuable, I took a full semester course, which was counted towards me upon returning to the base university. I passed the two milestones to "excellent", and after starting to work hard to prepare for the exams. All examinations in the disciplines, except for the “Economic Taldau zhene statistics” took place orally. The exam in the discipline "Economics қ taldau статистика zhen statistics" was held in writing in the lecture hall, where we sat with a stream of students of other specialties. At the end of the academic semester, they gave me a transcript (academic certificate of academic performance). This document is submitted to the basic university as a confirmation of passing the disciplines, with the results of the final tests and exams for further re-scoring of grades.

Thanks to the friendly and helpful guys from my group, I was able to quickly adapt to the new environment. My classmates turned out to be very hospitable and tried to show all the beautiful places in Almaty and beyond. We visited BAO, went snowboarding to Shymbulak, went as a group to paintball, to a concert that took place at the Palace of the Republic and many other events.

In just one year, I went through external (international) and internal (national) academic mobility. I have a good impression of these travels. Academic mobility for me is an opportunity to be an independent, sociable, adaptive person. Learn how to get out of your comfort zone. Try something new and enjoy it.
