Back on the pedestal!

On November 26, the final stage of the republican contest of environmental projects among students of Kazakhstani universities, organized by JSC "Aluminium of Kazakhstan" together with the NGO "ECOM", took place.
According to the results of the competition, the first place was taken by the project of InEU students "Bottle smartbox" - an automatic machine for collecting plastic and tin bottles in Pavlodar.

A total of 32 applications from all over the country were submitted to the competition, and at the first stage the jury selected the 10 best projects to participate in the final stage. The jury of the competition included environmental experts and representatives of government agencies working in the field of environmental protection.
Students of InEU Alexander Petrenko, Egor Prokhorov, Vladimir Golubin and scientific supervisor, PhD, Professor Bespaly Sergey Vladimirovich worked on the winning project.

The captain of the team, Alexander Petrenko, told about the project in more detail:
"Our team and I decided to take up this project, because tens of thousands of tons of plastic are produced annually in the Pavlodar region, and less than 20% of them are recycled. Therefore, we presented a project to collect plastic and aluminum cans and bottles with a monetary incentive.
The main objectives of the project are to solve the problem of collecting plastic and tinplate for recycling, to make the city cleaner by reducing the number of landfills, to increase awareness of consumption by residents of Pavlodar”.
The scientific director of the project, Bespaly Sergey Vladimirovich, told about the work done and plans:
"While working on the project, we prepared the business outline of the project, developed the entire production process, considered various forms of cooperation with large corporations, banks, and also calculated the environmental, economic and social impact of this project.
We plan to continue working on the project, assemble and test a prototype in the near future, and further scale the product.
I would like to thank the ERG group, the public association "ECOM" for organizing this competition and for supporting our project and believing in it. The team and I will do everything to meet these expectations!"
