The program includes a fully-funded, three-month internship with a civil society organization in the United States, online and face-to-face leadership and community engagement training, community service training, mentoring, and support for fellowship projects in their home countries for development. All program costs are covered by the US Department of State.

The Community Engagement Exchange Program is a transformative one-year leadership development program that empowers civil society leaders aged 20-27 in over 100 countries to harness the power of communities, relationships, and information for the benefit of society, especially in matters related to civil dialogue and peace building, open and accountable government, the role of women and gender equality, increased adaptability and sustainable development, and the inclusion of youth in society.
