We believe that the new generation will give March 1 a special status ...

March 1st is not an easy day. Although it is not marked in red on the calendar, for Kazakhstanis this day is very significant - we celebrate “Thanksgiving”.

Thanksgiving is a bright day of Kazakhstani patriotism, unity and friendship, a day of respect and honor for every citizen of the country. The Republic of Kazakhstan celebrated this holiday for the first time in 2016, when the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, declared January 14, 2016 as the "Assembly Day of the Peoples of Kazakhstan", and March 1 as the Day of Thanks.

On Thanksgiving, it is customary to recall how, during the years of political repressions of peoples, Kazakhstan received representatives of different ethnic groups. Therefore, Kazakhstanis should thank their fellow citizens, for the fact that people supported each other, survived in a difficult life situation, regardless of who they are by nationality. If you recall the history, the resettlement of representatives of other nationalities was most often not voluntary: someone was given land, someone escaped, someone was deported, someone was serving a term in prison. There were many reasons for all, they are all different and most often not positive.

Kazakhstan has become a hotbed where everyone has equal opportunities, live in peace and harmony. We have a unique model of social harmony - national unity: the country unites 130 ethnic groups and 17 religious denominations. Multilingualism has become our strategic advantage.

In honor of this wonderful day - the day of gratitude, a curatorial hour passed at the Department of Agriculture and Biological Resources. Teachers Tatyana Igorevna Uryumtseva and Elena Mikhailovna Enns spoke in detail about the history and reasons for the appearance of this holiday in the Republic of Kazakhstan. They also shared events from the life of their ancestors. Students told stories from the life of their grandfathers and grandmothers, and in conclusion they read verses of a patriotic content.

Tatyana Igorevna and Elena Mikhailovna explained that one of the goals of this holiday is to instill in the growing generation a sense of tolerance, respect and friendliness for each other, as well as strengthening interethnic harmony and interethnic relations in Kazakhstan.

In today's world, globalization erases borders, and many people are migrants. Therefore, in the current century, the main thing for peoples will be the ability to empathize and not to remain indifferent. These enduring values often begin with one simple, short, but at the same time capacious in meaning, the word "thank you"!

Now Kazakhstan is modestly celebrating this holiday, but we believe that in a couple of decades, the new generation will give March 1 a special status.
