Do you know that 1 battery pollutes 20 square meters of land? And this is the habitat of 2 moles, 1 hedgehog and many earthworms! Having handed over the battery, you will save 20 cubic meters of land, 400 liters of water. Properly disposed of batteries account for 50% of all toxic metals! They contain metals: mercury, lead, cadmium. When the battery case is destroyed, harmful substances enter the soil and groundwater, can be transported with dust, absorbed by plants, and enter the body of animals and humans. The presence of batteries in a landfill leads not only to environmental pollution, but also to the loss of valuable resources. Used batteries are harmful to the environment and human health. Therefore, it is necessary to dispose of them in time.

The largest number of batteries were handed over by the students of the Veterinary Sanitation group under the supervision of the curator T.I. Uryumtsev, 4-year teachers and students of the Chemical Technology of Inorganic Substances, Architecture and Design, and Geography actively participated.

The time has come for us to begin to resolve in a civilized manner the issue of separate waste collection and disposal of used batteries in particular.
