Anastassiya Karabekova, a teacher of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, received a grant to study at one of the leading universities in China. She was the only one invited from Harbin State University of Commerce. The young researcher shared her plans in an interview.
How did your passion for science begin?
- It all started, first of all, with admission to the master’s program, in 2017, for “Standardization, certification and metrology”. Here the goal of developing a QMS (quality management system) at the enterprise was set for me, and my research activity began with this.
What interested you in this particular direction?
- First of all, the quality management system implies proper management of production, regulatory documentation, so it is very important at our enterprises, as our enterprises become competitive thanks to the quality management system.
How does InEU cooperate with enterprises in this direction?
- We have many students writing their diploma works, master’s works related to the quality management system, that is, they analyze either the current QMS, or implement it.
What motivated you to enroll to postgraduate education in a foreign university?
- It is clear that after the master’s degree, I want to go further, that is, to graduate school. Postgraduate study in China implies obtaining a PhD degree at us. There I applied to Harbin State University of Commerce for the specialty: “Food Safety”. It happened completely by chance, in October I received a letter saying that there was an opportunity to apply to this university, of course, this was a big step for me and I collected all the necessary documents. The main one was a recommendation from 2 university professors, and it was necessary to write a motivation letter and a curriculum. Everything was collected on time. 2 days before the deadline. I made it in time and a university representative got in touch with me. And right before the New Year, on December 31, I was told the good news that I got a chance to study in graduate school.
InEU has long had warm partnership relations with Harbin University, hasn’t it?
- I can say this that InEU has been cooperating with Harbin State University of Commerce for a long time, our rector, Aliyassova Anastassiya Vasiliyevna promotes our partnership, and I know that in 2019 our teachers went with an internship, listened to lectures at this university, where all lectures were in English, and about 10% in Chinese. There are about 25 000 students studying there, over 500 graduate students, including from different countries.
What are the expectations from the training?
- First of all, I want to successfully graduate from graduate school, get the necessary knowledge for further research in our country. Food safety is the main problem, and not only in our country, therefore, the technical regulations of the Customs Union “On Food Safety” were introduced, which still needs to be finalized, and so that all our areas can be controlled.
